Shiatsu Milano Editore is a small independent publisher based in Milan (Italy) and deals with the study and disclosure of bio-natural disciplines books, in particular shiatsu.
Roberto Palasciano, the publishing director of Shiatsu Milano Editore,
is also a teacher and Didactic Director of School International di Shiatsu Italia (Italian Shiatsu International School) in Milan and, in 2011, he went to Tokyo accompanied by some shiatsu practitioners to learn more about the origins and essence of Shizuto Matsunaga’s original shiatsu.
From that first experience a beautiful journey of mutual knowledge was born with Haruhiko Masunaga sensei, present Director of Iokai Center, which led them to return several times to the Iokai in Tokyo by participating in shiatsu courses and to organize workshops of Haruhiko sensei in Italy.
During their stay at the Iokai Center, they learned about the numerous writings of Shizuto Masunaga and, considering that the only book available in Italian was “Zen Shiatsu” published in the 1980s, in 2012 they decided to translate from Japanese into Italian and to publish “Racconti di 100 trattamenti” (Tales of 100 treatments), continuing with “Manuali di shiatsu 1° 2° 3° 4° mese” (Masunaga Shiatsu manuals 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th month), which are still used today as students textbooks in Iokai Center.
They also published “Anpuku Zukai” by Ȱta Shinsai on recommendation of Haruhiko Masunaga, who always mentions it in his workshops, because this book contains many elements that are at the root of the meridians’ shiatsu.
They are now publishing “Keiraku to shiatsu”, by Shizuto Masunaga, a collection of articles from the 60s and 80s published in prestigious Japanese magazines. This experience allowed them to know the preparation of Masunaga sensei, who was not only a great shiatsu practitioners and teacher but a researcher, a psychologist, a profound expert of oriental medicine, western science and human soul.
Studying these books to translate them from the original Japanese versions to a language that could be easy to read and understand for western shiatsu operators has been an important teamwork, shared between Japanese and Italian shiatsu practitioners, acupuncturists and doctors.
They realized, at this point, that they had done much of the work, translating from Japanese ideograms into Italian. Given the accuracy of their translation, also on request and incitement of Haruhiko Masunaga, they decided to translate some of these texts from Italian to English to allow their diffusion all over the world.
At this moment “Masunaga Shiatsu Manuals – 1st month” is available in e-book version on the major platforms; soon the second volume, “Masunaga Shiatsu Manuals – 2nd month”, and to follow the book “Tales of 100 treatments”.
